Getting hot up on those roofs

Starting to get hot up on these southern Chester County Pennsylvania roofs. We need to start cleaning early and keep well hydrated. It's easy to get dehydrated while cleaning those black streaks on these roofs. Safety is always first with The Roof Cleaners so we make sure we have lots of cold water available on these hot days. We try to break for lunch during the hottest part of the day. We were cleaning a roof in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania the other day and took a break to have lunch at Vincenzo's Italian Eatery in Kennett. They have great food and fast service. Check them out if you are in the southern Chester County area.

Heat does have it's advantages though. The algae, also known as gloeocapsa magma, really sucks up the cleaner that we spray on the roof on these hot days. It makes our job a little bit easier. The hotter the roof, the dryer the algae will be and the more chemical it will absorb. This helps kill the algae faster. Once that algae is dead it will release it's grip on the granules of your shingles. Then your roof will look like new again.

We have been just missing some of this severe thunderstorm activity the past few days. The Roof Cleaners are based out of Oxford Pennsylvania and we are just a few miles from where Pennsylvania, Maryland & Delaware come together. These storms have been passing just above and below us. I'm ok with that. When a roof gets wet, we can't clean it until it dries out.
